Free Community Yoga Class: The Power of Play

with Taylor Evans
Friday, June 8, 5:30-6:45pm

Celebrate the week’s end with an energizing, athletic, and fun Yoga practice. Accessible for everyone and every body, this flowing class will move students physically, mentally, and emotionally as they reach new levels of awareness and connection to their bodies. With emphasis on understanding and opening the body and mind, this class encourages incredible growth towards a place of authenticity both on and off the mat.

Taylor Evans stumbled across yoga at the beginning of his college career while looking for a way to exercise outside of the competitive gym environment. Taylor views yoga as not only an awesome way to stay physically active, but also as a way to peel back the layers that keep us from living from a place of authenticity and compassion. He hopes that through yoga, individuals can begin to reconnect to themselves and those around them, building strong, healthy bodies and even stronger and healthier relationships. Always up for a new experience, Taylor has practiced yoga in a number of different styles, drawing and learning from all of them. He is currently in the process of completing his 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training at Down Dog Yoga in Washington, D.C.

Summer Solstice Celebration

with Ashleigh Shepherd and Mike Deaton
Friday, June 15th 5:30-7:00pm

Invoke the playfulness and abundance of summer through an uplifting practice of asana and kiirtan. An energizing sequence of yoga postures set to the inspiring rhythms of live drumming will flow into a joyful kiirtan – the collective chanting of devotional mantras. Kiirtan invites all persons, regardless of religious affiliation, to experience the power of voices united in song. While the mantras sung refer to Hindu names for the Divine, these incarnations represent universal virtues. Furthermore, the mantras use sounds that stimulate the flow of energy through the body-mind-spirit and contribute to a sense of expansiveness, joy, and overall well-being.

Come to listen. Come to sing. Come to celebrate the joyful arrival of summer! All levels of yoga experience welcome!

Please email ashleigh.shepherd@gmail.com for more information or to reserve your spot.

Suggested Donation: $10
